Recap

Luxol delivered a commanding performance, securing a dominant victory over BOV Division One minnows Tigers BT in a one-sided encounter. The Violets showed no mercy as Caleb Jones McCrary led the charge with 40 points, while Darron Howard’s all-around display, including 27 points, underscored Luxol’s superiority.

Tigers BT began brightly, with Sassoun Saakian and Daniele Militello combining for early points to take a 4-0 lead. However, Luxol quickly found their rhythm. Jones McCrary and Howard spearheaded a 12-3 run, which included a Howard three-pointer and a layup from Phillip Engelbert. The Tigers briefly tied the game through Serge Hamparsoumian’s three-pointer, but Luxol regained control with strong contributions from Nathan Xuereb and Adam Azzopardi. A late three-pointer from Howard capped the quarter, leaving Luxol ahead 29-19.

The second quarter saw Luxol completely take over. Jones McCrary dominated the paint, scoring consistently on fast breaks and second-chance opportunities. Tigers struggled to respond, with debutant Israel Lockamy offering a lone highlight with a three-pointer. Luxol’s relentless defence and efficient transition play extended their lead to 70-27 by halftime, with Jones McCrary already amassing 28 points.

The third quarter was more of the same, as Luxol showcased their depth. JP Schembri and Nenad Bukva added to the scoring spree with well-timed three-pointers, while Howard continued to excel on both ends of the court. Tigers’ Lockamy and Hamparsoumian provided sporadic resistance, but Luxol’s unrelenting pace stretched the gap to an overwhelming 104-38 by the end of the third.

In the fourth quarter, Luxol maintained their momentum. Xuereb and Schembri connected on multiple three-pointers, while Cappello and Engelbert capitalised on turnovers with efficient finishing inside. Despite a late flurry from Lockamy, who ended with 17 points, Tigers had no answer for Luxol’s dominance. Jones McCrary’s emphatic dunk in the final moments epitomised Luxol’s comprehensive display.
