Caffe Moak Luxol edged out Betsson Depiro 66–60 in a thrilling overtime encounter in the MAPFRE MSV Life Women’s League, extending their unbeaten streak against the Mtarfa side in all contests since the Super Cup final. The game saw standout performances from Brandy Lynn Huffhines, who delivered a game-high 34 points, and Janai Crooms, whose 23 points kept Depiro competitive throughout.
The game also marked the return of Sarah Fenech Pace for Luxol after missing recent games due to injury, adding stability to their lineup.
The opening quarter was tightly contested, with Depiro’s Joselle Borg Cardona and Crooms combining for nine points to establish a narrow lead. Luxol’s Huffhines kept them in the game with two three-pointers, as Depiro led 15–12 at the break.
Depiro built momentum in the second quarter, with Borg Cardona and Julia Borg Xerri capitalising on turnovers to stretch the lead to 13 points. However, Luxol fought back, led by Huffhines and Fenech Pace, who combined to trim the deficit to 34–25 by halftime.
The third quarter saw Luxol shift gears, with Josephine Diaby sparking a comeback and Anna Fenech Pace adding a stylish reverse layup. Huffhines tied the game at 35 with a three-pointer and followed up with seven consecutive points to help Luxol take a 43–41 lead into the fourth.
In the final quarter, Huffhines continued her dominance, scoring nine points, including a critical three-pointer late in the game. However, Depiro refused to back down, as Crooms scored five points in the final minutes, including a clutch layup off a turnover to tie the game at 58 and force overtime.
Luxol took control in overtime, with Gwen Carabott coolly sinking two free throws to give her team the lead. Huffhines extended the margin with a decisive three-pointer, taking her tally to 33 points. Despite free throws from Borg Cardona and Borg Xerri, Luxol maintained their composure. Carabott added a jump shot, and Huffhines sealed the win with a final free throw, finishing with a stellar 34-point performance.
