Malta’s women’s basketball team faced a second defeat at this year’s FIBA U18 Women’s Eurobasket Division C, ultimately falling to Kosovo with a final score of 54-37. Despite a strong start, Malta couldn’t maintain their momentum against Kosovo’s resilient defence and strategic plays.

Malta’s early lead showcased their potential, but consistency was an issue. Sara Fenech Pace and Shanice Farrugia delivered commendable performances, contributing crucial points and rebounds. However, turnovers and missed opportunities, particularly in the second and third quarters, hindered Malta’s efforts.

Kosovo’s defence played a significant role in their victory. Tia Tuhina and Flutra Mehmeti were standout performers, with their ability to disrupt Malta’s plays and convert turnovers into points proving decisive.

Malta began the game with determination, quickly establishing a lead. Fenech Pace and Farrugia were instrumental in the first quarter, with Fenech Pace scoring a crucial layup at 07:46, assisted by Vanya Baldacchino. This strong performance saw Malta finish the quarter ahead, 21-20.

By the end of the quarter, Malta was down 41-30.

In the final quarter, Malta’s difficulties persisted. Despite Malta’s best efforts, Kosovo’s defence remained steadfast. Malta’s turnovers and missed shots allowed Kosovo to further extend their lead.
